Write to support@outloudreader.app and a person will answer. Below are the things that come up most, with what to do about each.
One lesson holds up to 5,000 characters — a dense page of a paperback is well under that, a two-page spread of small print may not be. Photograph one page at a time.
Nothing readable was found. Usually the page is at an angle, in its own shadow, or the phone focused on the edge of the book rather than the text. Lay the book flat, let the camera settle, and keep the whole text block inside the frame.
Type a hint before sending — the name of the language the book is printed in is enough.
Audio is downloaded once and kept on the phone. If the file was cleared — by the system when storage ran low, or by reinstalling the app — swipe the lesson in the library and choose to add audio again. It will not be charged to your allowance twice.
If our speech service was unavailable when a page was imported, that page was read by the backup voice. The app quietly repairs such pages in the background, at our expense, not yours. Opening the library and leaving it open for a moment is enough to let it happen.
Playback pauses for calls, alarms and other apps that take over the sound, and resumes when they are done. If it does not resume, press play again — your place is kept.
One purchase, no subscription: 10 lessons a day, 300 photographed pages and 250,000 characters of speech a month. The monthly part resets at the start of each calendar month, in UTC.
A pack adds 250,000 characters and 300 pages to the current month. It is a separate one-off purchase, not a subscription, and it does not renew.
The purchase is kept on the device until it is credited, so nothing is lost. Open the app while online and it will be delivered. If it still has not arrived, write to us and say roughly when you bought it.
Use “Restore purchases” on the purchase screen. It is the same Apple Account, so both the app and any packs come back.
That is intended. When Apple returns the money for a purchase, the service is switched off for it — including the free monthly allowance. Buying a pack switches it back on.
Then the purchase counts again. The app keeps the receipt rather than discarding it, so it will be delivered on its own the next time you open the app while online.
Refunds are Apple's to grant, not ours: use reportaproblem.apple.com. If something about the app was wrong, we would rather hear it first — write to us.
There is no account and your photographs are not stored. The full account of what is sent, what is kept and for how long is on the privacy page. To have the usage counters attached to your purchase cleared, write to us and say so.
It helps to include your device and iOS version, what you expected, what happened instead, and — if it is about a purchase — roughly when you made it. Please do not send screenshots of pages you are reading; we do not need them, and we would rather not have them.
